Karingal has grown, developed and is constantly changing due to the passion that Martin and I have for horses, our property and the hospitality industry. Karingal started in 1990 and the current property was purchased in 1997 after outgrowing where we were in Gosford.
We were fortunate enough to purchase a property that had been in the same family for many years and was used for orchard and growing tomatoes .The land is viable, fertile and there is a great balance between natural bush and now improved paddocks. The grounds still have some of the lovely old trees planted many years ago, that delineate the seasons from the bare bones of winter, through budding spring and summer blooms, to the amazing crimsons of autumn.
The property is situated one hour north of Sydney's CBD in the Central Coast's hinterland at Mangrove Mountain. Known too many who enjoy the tourist route 33 to Wisemans Ferry as an area to be enjoyed for its beautiful scenery, farm gate produce, historical buildings and cafes.
With Martin's history and training in horticulture and my passion for horses, we have transformed the orchards into lovely post and rail paddocks of various sizes with shelters or stables, depending on paddock size. There is now a 60 x 20 metre indoor arena under lights , 15 metre round yard, hot and cold wash–bays, amenities including showers, tea and coffee making facilities, training cross country jumps , show jumps, trails, indoor breeding barn for stallion collection and 10 horse stable block .
In conjunction with the development of the equestrian facilities the grounds have gradually been taking shape also. The planting of tree lined laneways, lending themselves for tables set for long lunches. Pergolas by the dam and creek, on levelled lawn bordered by gardens filled with lavender and herbs.
We are enjoying creating a space where people can come and take advantage of the facilities we are building. For example:-
